The immediate area of Slano caters for all tastes. Next to the incredible flora and fauna of the bay of Slano, the city of Dubrovnik is really worth a visit. Dubrovnik is not only well known for its history, but also because of it having been declared World Cultural Heritage. Find breathtaking battlements in the little town of Ston. And also your sense of taste will not be disappointed. The oyster- and mussel cultivation of this area is incredible. Pelješac, located on a peninsular, is known to be a premium wine-growing area – even far beyond the borders of Croatia.
Slano
is a peaceful little town within the bay of approx. 2 km, 30 km northwest of Dubrovnik. It is loved for its gorgeous sand and shingle beaches, as well as for its Mediterranean vegetation. The economy is based on tourism, olive farming, fishing and wine growing. All this makes Slano the perfect place for a pleasant, relaxing vacation – also for families.
Dubrovnik
is known all over the world for its history, fine arts and culture. In its old town you can find the still fascinating, well-preserved old architecture of older days. The most important sights can all be found in the pedestrian area in the old town, inside the battlements. Find some of them here.
Pelješac, Ston und Mali Ston
at the edge of the peninsula Pelješac, in a distance of approx. 20 km, you can find Ston. This small town is home to Europe’s longest fortification wall with about 5.5 km. Even today people still gain salt from the seawater saline of Ston, through evaporation. On the sun terraces of the peninsula Pelješac, premium wine is pressed from many different sorts of grapes. Little Ston enjoys a well-earned reputation for its oyster- and mussel cultivation, as well as for its cuisine.
